10/10/10 Event.
Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 09:30 - 17:30
We are going to help the Native Grassland Conservancy in partnership with the Menare Foundation with habitat restoration and invasive species removal at the Button Farm Living History Center and surrounding land. This will provide opportunities to learn about and identify native plants and their dependent fauna, and to observe native wildlife as it returns to restored habitat.
Activities include removal of non-native, invasive plant species; identification and collection of native seed for planting; measurement of transition from poor quality habitat to optimum habitat; planting local native grasses and forbs where invasive species have been removed to create the diverse texture and structure desirable for obligate grassland species and their associated plant communities.
