Since October 10 will be at the start of the winter heating season, building and installing these cheap and easy to make interior storm windows is a great idea. They're basically an easy-to-build wooden frame covered with plastic wrap and then heated with a hairdryer to make them tight. And they save enough energy to pay for themselves in a matter of months–after which you're saving money and cutting carbon. They're the kind of low-tech, cheap solution we badly need. Many thanks to Bob Hardina in the (northern) American state of Maine for showing us how it's done.
