Since October 10 will be at the start of the winter heating season, building and installing these [cheap and easy to make interior storm windows](https://www.midcoastgreencollaborative.org/storms.html) is a great idea. They're basically an easy-to-build wooden frame covered with plastic wrap and then heated with a hairdryer to make them tight. And they save enough energy to pay for themselves in a matter of months–after which you're saving money and cutting carbon. They're the kind of low-tech, cheap solution we badly need. Many thanks to Bob Hardina in the (northern) American state of Maine for [showing us how it's done.](https://www.arttec.net/Thermal-Windows/index.html)
