10 Native Oak Seedlings for JPL
Sunday, 10 October, 2010 (All day)
Plant 10 native oak seedlings at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, complete with chicken wire cages so they won't get munched by the captive herd of deer at the facility. The seedlings were germinated from acorns collected from oak trees native to the site, and include the endangered Engelmann Oak. This is a grass-roots activity, not approved by the institution, and is against NASA rules - employees are prohibited from volunteering for such activities, but that's not stopping a few of us from doing the right thing.
