Be sure to register yourself at 350.org A few clicks will bring you to the right page.
Here’s the plan as it is right now.
We have a permit to use the Shopko Deck in downtown Green Bay on Sunday, October, 10, 2010.
We will begin at 10:10 AM and run for 350 minutes until 4:00 PM.
We are trying to get a large quantity of compact florescent to distribute in various neighborhoods in the Green Bay area. Along with the light bulbs will be a package of literature telling about the meaning and significance of global warming.
Our plan is to distribute donated light bulbs in a few selected areas in Green Bay along with some literature. How much will depend on how many volunteers and light bulbs we have. That will be the work part.
The more fun part will take place on Shopko deck At Main Street and the Fox River (downtown next to the river). There we plan to have music, speakers, and other activities to raise awareness.
There will be three places for speakers.
One will be for elected officials and candidates for office to tell how their time in office will influence global warming and climate change influenced by human activity.
One will be for use by religious leaders to explain their denomination’s views on the moral and ethical implications of the dramatic changes that are taking place
The third will be for community leaders and concerned citizens to engage the public with their views and solutions. To participate just email us and we will reserve a five minute time slot for you.
In addition there will be a circle of chairs for folks to just talk about global warming. Where we are, how we got there, and what we should do next.
We hope to have a group photo taken for the 350.org website. Also it would be great to have lots and lots of photos and video to make a CD so bring you cameras.
Bring you own lunch and snacks. Sorry NO booze. The permit would have been real complicated if we would have tried to get into food and beverages.
Following the big day 101010 there will be a film festival over the following two weeks where we will show various DVDs at local coffee houses and book stores or other venues. Everyone has their favorite hangout so we will bring the festival to you.
This event will be successful in proportion to how many people using their personal email list to make it happen. That is the way Bill McKibbon has started with a handful of people in Vermont and is spreading the word world wide.
Yup! That means you. It only take a few minutes to cut and paste this into an email and send it to your list. Even if you send it to people who live far away they can go to 350.org and find an event near them, or they can start one,
We will need lots of volunteers to help make it a success. If you have ideas that you would like to see come to life speak up nothing is cast in bronze and there is plenty room down town. For all your friends and ideas Here is a phone number: Mike 920-494-1426 leave a number and someone will call you back.
