2010 Sustainability Summit: Climate. Oceans. Community. Working Together to Protect Our Plant.
Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 10:00 - 16:00
"Climate. Oceans. Community. Working Together to Protect Our Planet." is the theme of the 2010 Sustainability Summit in Manhattan Beach, CA. We will bring together individuals in the South Bay region to learn about the climate crisis and what we can each do to be more energy and water efficient in order to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
The Summit will have plenty of opportunities for people to get involved in their community and learn about their environment. The day will start off with informative discussions on climate policy, energy efficiency, and sustainable landscaping. There will be an all day Eco-Fair featuring green technology vendors and environmental organizations.
Volunteers will also have a chance to gather for a Work Party to install a drought tolerant garden at City Hall which will serve as a hands on example of what each of us can do to save water and energy in our landscaping. By installing this demonstration garden we will show the community the simple steps we can take to live more sustainably and reduce our carbon footprint.
A discussion on the garden installation will take place from 1:30-3:30 PM outside of City Hall. If you plan to help with planting the garden, please contact Sona at skalapura@citymb.info.
