33 laura street neigbourhood food garden: Vege Patch Preparation and Planting

Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 09:00 - 10:00

Preparation and planting of another vegetable patch in a communal share house garden that is being developed as a demonstration of what can be done with food growing in an urban environment. This garden is visually open to the street and one large productive bed has been developed outside the fence with neighbors encouraged to harvest. Other existing beds on multiple terrace levels are very productive also. Active composting and rainwater harvest is occurring on site. The property also hosts community events.

After this event we will head over to the Permablitz happening on Hardgrave Road where, to quote from their event;
"We'll be preparing garden beds and swales, building a worm farm and water tank stand - there'll be a communal vegetarian meal & new friends to meet, so bring a trowel, cardboard or old newspapers & a smile!"

How to Get Involved Planning the Event: Just come along! it will be a breeze and fun! contribute seedlings/seeds or compost or other soil conditioners such as manure if you can!

Event Host: An informal group of DIY community members
