350 and 10/10/10 campaign activity: „Tree Planting Day“ in Tarailiai Basic School, Tauragė, Lithuania
Tarailiai Basic School has environmentally-friendly activity every year: Tree Planting Day. The sixth time the school community organise this event.
This time two silver fir trees was planted by pupils, teachers with forester who organise interesting activities with younger foresters from our school. The event began in the 21st of September 2010 in Tarailiai the district of Taurage (in the West of Lithuania). Ceremony began with school radio programme which informed about Tree Planting program and the pupils’ poems about trees, nature and surroundings were presented. The corridors and the windows of the school were decorated with apple-tree and apples created from paper by pupils. The apples symbolise the autumn and harvest as the present from nature.
All planting ceremony was outside in the green area near Tarailiai Basic School. Every respondent from this district could see the gathering of pupils near the multi-storey houses. There were pupils from the first to tenth forms (from 7 to 16 years old). The event attracted a few guests, namely the head of the Tauragė forests, the head of the community “The Circle of Tarailiai”.
The forester taught the schoolchildren how to prepare a pot-hole for a tree, how to determine the age of a fir tree, wished to continue various environmentally-friendly activities.
Later the whole of the school community sang a song about trees; a group of children performed a Lithuanian national dance-game about fir trees. After that the school community formed the number 350 to represent the maximal allowed carbon dioxide quantity in the air and photos were taken.
We are with people from all over the world who take care of the nature and humanity living circumstances. We join in 350 campaign, we want to be safe at natural home! We involve in 10/10/10 programme with our activity.
