'350 Bike Riders will plant 350 trees'
Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 10:00 - 16:00
350 youth and community people will 'Bike Ride for Awareness' from Gandhi's statute in Amber (The historical heritage city of Rajasthan) and conclude at Gandhivan (A forest developed by Gram Bharati Samiti -GBS- or 'Society for Rural Development' at the foothills of Aravallis on 50 km away from Jaipur) and Plant 350 Trees.
The Bike riders will march to Gandhivan raising awareness among the people of 35 villages on route on the issues like climate change, global warming, reducing carbon, planting more trees, using solar and wind energy, CFL lights and organic manure etc. The Bike riders will be distributing leaflets and addressing public meetings in 10 villages. There will be a huge public meeting at the end of the 'Bike Ride' at Gandhivan. At the end of the meeting 350 trees of 'Neem' (Azadirecta indica -a very useful specy of medicinal and shadowy tree) will be planted.
How to Get Involved Planning the Event: Developing IEC materials (we need in this regard- flyers, leaflets, folders, posters etc.), organizing meetings in 10 villages on the route of the bike ride (it would be great if brochures for the meetings and placards for the bike riders etc. could be made available) and a big meeting at Gandhivan (some posters or other kinds of display materials would be helpful) where 350 trees will be planted.
Event Host: GBS (Gram Bharati Samiti) or Society for Rural Development is a National NGO engaged in rural development programs for past 25 years in India. Website www.gbsjp.org
