350 Climate Action Work Party
Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 09:00 - 17:00
Join the movement!
This fall, Mother Lode River Center is joining the global movement to reduce CO2 levels in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million or less, as soon as possible. We agree that to tackle the challenge of sustainability, we need not only to reduce the carbon footprint of our own business, but to join with our community to take action. So, like thousands of other organizations worldwide, we are hosting a 350 climate action work party from 9am-5pm on October 10, 2010.
Our work party will include a river clean-up, a “bring your own” picnic with prizes awarded for the most local food content, letter writing, an environmental mural project, and more!
Workshops will include how to build your own solar hot water heater, how to perform bike maintenance, and learning to “up cycle” by bringing a used T-shirt and using our silk screen to transform it into a custom work of art.
There will be fun group games appropriate for all ages. A few adventurous souls will even climb forty-feet up our huge Ponderosa pine tree and leap into space to demonstrate their commitment to fight climate change. We call it “the leap of faith” and you will be able to see it on Youtube.
Please RSVP by emailing our organizer emily.l.underwood@gmail.com. IMPORTANT: To join the river clean up, send your reply by October 8th.
