350 Eco Month

PARTICIPATION:
JUNK 'N JAVA- On Saturday, October 9th, Junk n Java will have samples of local food recipes to celebrate 10/10/10. Join the momentum!
GOLDEN LEARNING CENTER -Have run a Waste Reduction Week litter-free lunch challenge; have started their recycling program throughout the school; and have set up their vermi-composter on Oct. 14th or 15th with a large–scale worm bin.
Nancy Pillips - for their 10-10-10 wedding: Used compostable plates, cutlery and cups for a BBQ the night before and a Brunch the day after; brought plates, tablecloths, salad bowls, etc. for the wedding dinner; ate local foods for the traditional turkey/fish meal, including home-made pickles; rode on a Chairlift up Mont Ste. Marie to look at fall colours as the party favour.
ST JOHN's CATHOLIC SCHOOL- The students in Grade 5/6 declared Operation: Save the Earth. They challenge the other classes to see who can recycle and compost
the most. Each class received a compost bucket and a recycling bin. The class who has the least garbage by the end of the month will receive a prize. The money that the school receives from the green committee will be used to support this prize, as well as something for the entire school for its participation in this endeavor.
Reminder: The schools will be rewarded $100 at the end of the month for participating during an assembly. The schools and any businesses have be recognized in our local newspaper.
Have we achieves a minimum of 350 participants for the event? Are habits changing for a safer, cleaner earth?
