About 350.org Australia
350.org Australia’s mission is to build a movement to call for action on the global climate change
crisis. In Australia, the world’s largest exporter of polluting coal, we are working to raise awareness
about the environmental impacts of that industry, to halt coal export expansion and to protect the
environment and communities threatened by coal development.
Right now a large number of megamines are planned for Australia, including some of the most prominent
in Queensland that would see massive coal export infrastructure development near our greatest
environmental icon -- the Great Barrier Reef. We are calling on Environment Minister Tony Burke to
halt coal export expansion and protect the Australian – and global – environment in favour of clean
energy alternatives.

What is 350?
350 parts per million is the safe level of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere to sustain life. We are
now above 390 ppm and that rate is climbing rapidly. 350.org was founded to raise awareness about
these numbers and to highlight that our climate is in crisis right now and that urgent action is needed
to reduce our global emissions in every country in the world.
Because of its dependence on coal for energy and its economic dependence on coal exports, Australia
is a leading contributor to the deadly climate change impacts we face right now. 350.org Australia
is working with 350.org internationally and with a large group of partner organisations to end our
dependence on coal and move the country to clean energy alternatives.
What can I do?
350.org is supported by concerned members of the public just like you. Take action to help us find
solutions to the climate crisis by signing up for 350.org Australia updates on our efforts.

Who are 350.org in Australia?
350.org Australia was founded in 2009 as part of the 350 global day of climate action. We are a
small team supported by an active group of volunteers and organisers who work together to raise
awareness about the climate crisis here and internationally. /div>
