Canadian Elections Today--Will the Winner Head to Poland?

Today's a significant day in Canada, where a federal election hinges in part on issues related to climate change. Many organizing efforts are underway on behalf of our Canadian allies to make sure climate remains a key voting issue.

You can follow the results in the Globe and Mail, but our big question is: will the victor take climate change seriously enough to be present in Poland for the UN Climate Talks?

We see this test significant in Canada as well as here in the United States.

350 at SAYEN's Indian National Youth Meet

The UNEP supported South Asia Youth Environment Network (SAYEN) recently hosted a three day Indian National Youth Meet in Ahmedabad, India. The Meet, called to envision the next five year plan for SAYEN was inaugurated on the 2nd of October; the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the biggest proponent of peace, non-violence and sustainable development.

"Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed", or so declared the Mahatma decades ago. Today, long after he's gone, we are realizing the significance of his statement. "Be the change you want to see in the world", he already gave a message to all of us!

350 was introduced during the Meet to all the youth participating from different parts of the country and was a target setting experience for many.

The campaign to send the next Prez to Poland (for the UN Climate Meetings this December) is succeeding beyond our dreams. Together, we've sent over 18,000 invitations to the candidates to attend the meetings. Now, we're trying to break 20,000 before Wednesday night's Debate in Hempstead, NY.

At the final Presidential debate, this Wednesday, 350.org supporters will gather outside the debates, dressed as pilots and flight attendants, carrying a giant ticket to Poland for the next US President. The ticket is a symbol of the thousands of invitations you've helped send the candidates. 350.org staff are working to make sure the campaigns know about this delivery.
