Bike Party in NOLA: Rack Installation, Mass Bike Ride, Pot Luck

Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 11:30 - 20:00

With the new bike paths appearing throughout the city, we are going to push for more ridership in New Orleans and raise awareness for the bikers already on the road by hosting a ride around town. We want to spread the message that biking is easy, healthy, community building, and a great alternative fossil-fuel free form of transportation.

We also want to work to ensure safety for all the bikers of New Orleans and for our planet as a whole. As a group we can raise awareness by making ourselves visible with banners, signs, costumes, anything. Broadcast Biking, Broadcast 350! Get Creative!

The day will start at 11:30am at Bunny Friend Playground (http://tinyurl.com/36kefsr) in the Upper 9th Ward. Please bring your bike with you! Watch and learn as volunteers from the Metro Bike Coalition install a brand new bike rack at the playground. During this skill-sharing event, the volunteers will explain how to properly and safely install a bike rack. This section of the Work Party will last for about 30 minutes, and then... we ride!
