Plastic Bag Facts
• Worldwide, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are used.
• Although plastic bags are recyclable, less than 3% of them actually are. The rest end up in landfills, oceans, and as litter.
• An EPA ranking of chemicals that produce the most hazardous waste showed 5 of the top 6 were used by the plastics industry
• In our oceans, plastic debris was found in almost 75% of dead sea turtles in 2002
• Millions of barrels of oil are required to produce the plastic bags used worldwide each year.
“San-Saab Canal Clean Up”
In our quest to contribute in saving our mother Earth in our simple ways, one of the activities we have come up with is organizing a canal clean up activity.
As the nearest canal from us, we have chosen San-Saab Canal to clean up.
The activity will be held on 5th December 2010 to celebrate his majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej 83rd birthday anniversary and will be participated by our staff volunteers.
To make this event more successful, our management will coordinate with the district police to also ask for their support.

How to Get Involved Planning the Event: How Reusable Fabric Bags Help Using reusable eco-friendly bags will lessen our demand for plastic bags, in theory reducing the production of them and the associated pollution and oil consumption. At the very least, reuse does not “support” the pollution that the creation of plastic bags creates. How the Pathumwan Princess Hotel will help The Pathumwan Princess will coordinate with the MBK shopping center to design a fabric bag logo, which will carry the MBK-Pathumwan Princess Hotel-350 logo. As soon as the design will be created, we will launch an advertising campaign to sell the bags in the booths that will be situated at both the MBK shopping center and the Pathumwan Princess hotel lobby. To promote the campaign and encourage the people to buy our Fabric Bags, Pathumwan Princess Hotel will reward 25% discount to our F&B guests with certain terms and conditions: 1) Discount is not available at Flavors Restaurant 2) 25% discount is on food and non-alcoholic beverages only 3) Discount is valid Everyday lunch and dinner and only at the following outlets: Loop / t@Lobby / CitiBistro / Kayageum / Studio Bar 4) Discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotions For locals or foreign, who will be spotted carrying our Fabric bags while dinning at any of our outlets. The profit made from the Fabric Bag selling will be donated to two Eco friendly foundations as follows: • Sirindhorn International Foundation • Greenworld Foundation
