What is The Great Green Initiative?
The Great Green Initiative campaign is a collaboration of ten prominent youth organizations with shared ambitions: to create 'green' youth culture in China and spur its sustainable development.

The campaign seeks to engage China's youth in finding creative and practical solutions for environmental and climate issues, and empower them with the knowledge that they have the ability to do so. Never before has the world relied so much upon young people to take up the challenge of building a sustainable future. By initiating nationwide environmentally-focused activities and involving youth and local communities, we aim to strengthen this foundation and help shape the leaders of tomorrow.

The Great Green Initiative launches this October 2010 through a series of environmentally focused events nationwide: 300 community actions; 7 focus projects; and 3 major city events (Beijing, Hong Kong, Tianjin), culminating in a global finale on October 10, 2010.

In Beijing, city residents and organizations from diverse sectors - including NGOs, academic institutions, companies, and the creative community - will make a collaborative effort to tackle climate change issues and environmental degradation. Highlight events include The Great GREEN Race and Trash Sculpting exhibition, which both aim to raise awareness surrounding consumption and waste management issues, while empowering individuals to contribute creative solutions that address these problems.

Join us daily, from October 8th - 10th, 1pm - 5pm, for "the greatest day of green action" -- yet!

点绿中国运动是10个主要青年组织的联合，共同拥有同一个愿景：在中国创造一个“绿色”文化，并且带动中国的可持续发展

我们的活动寻求中国青年参与寻找创造性的和实用性的解决方法应对环境和气候问题，并使他们相信他们有能力这样做。我们的行动建立在对今天的青年们作为全球公民拥有这样特殊的责任的信仰上。以前从未有过这样的挑战，世界依靠年轻人来肩负起建设一个可持续发展的未来。通过发起全国性的环保活动，涉及青少年和本地公众，我们的目标是加强这一基础并帮助塑造明日的环保领袖

通过在全国范围内开展一系关注环境的活动，我们于今年10月启动了点绿中国项目：300个公众活动，一个主要项目，持续3星期的城市活动（北京，香港和天津），在10月10号以10/10/10为主体压轴结束。

在北京， 我们将邀请来自社会不同部门的人和组织加入到我们的活动中，包括非政府组织，教育机构，企业和创意社团，团结大家的力量去应对气候变化和环境退化问题。我们的重点活动是超级绿色竞赛和垃圾雕塑竞赛，都旨在提高人们对于环境消费和废物管理问题的意识，同时授权居民个人去贡献创造性地解决方案来应对这些问题.
