Green Torch Relay 2 (GTR2): Could 350.org be a partner in this campaign?

The event will be in October most likely, the date hasn't been solidified yet due to ongoing planning and sponsorship outreach/conversations. The following dates are have potential (although the first one is the most ideal): October 18th-19th, October 25th-26th, or November 1st-2nd.

The goal of this relay is to unite athletes from all carbon-light or carbon-neutral sports in three arenas: land, water, and air; and bring them together to demand real action on climate change. The specific legislative goal will be to ask for 80% emissions cuts in your state, your country, or your region by 2050. Taking such action would effectively stabilize the climate and lower atmospheric carbon emissions at 350 parts per million (ppm) or lower. Such a goal would prevent climate catastrophe and severe weather events that most scientists cannot completely predict, they can only forecast ominous scenarious. This is a decision in risk management, can we as a people sit by as our leaders do nothing to solve this problem, risking potential disaster? Or should we risk taking action, perhaps overestimating the climate change threat, and have the benefit of a cleaner, more efficient energy sector globally? I put it to you, this is your choice, but it is also OUR choice. What we do or don't do today will affect the world our children will know and be exposed to.

*NOTE: I am working with a climate action organization who within a month could help get this event to go national and international! I will update on this page when I know anything further.
