"Leaps and Bounds" Worship with Tevyn East
Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 10:30 - 11:45
Tevyn East of the Affording Hope Project will lead our 10/10/10 Sunday morning worship (with Communion) with a light lunch and conversation to follow (intended for students and young adults). All are most welcome!
The Affording Hope Project presents Leaps and Bounds, a one woman show which explores the intersection of faith, ecology, and the global economy. Developed and performed by Tevyn East, she uses [in the context of worship] storytelling, song, poetry, prayer, movement, and music, to shed light on the driving factors of our ecological crisis while awakening the imagination to a new way of living with and relating to Earth. Grounded in theological reflection, Leaps and Bounds, embodies an adventure, searching for the values that would support an economic system that promotes human well-being and ecological health.
The Affording Hope Project accesses the transformative power of art to inspire the Christian church to be a prophetic witness to alternative economic systems of sufficiency and solidarity. So we're "getting to work" on global climate change by taking the time in worship to let its realities sink deep into our hearts and motivate us to heartfelt, sustained action for the benefit of the earth and all its creatures. Won't you join us!
Tevyn East will also perform at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 11, a full version of "Leaps and Bounds" at Rollins Chapel, Dartmouth College. In addition to Lutheran Campus Ministry, this performance is sponsored by the following Dartmouth campus ministries: the Alpha Omega Student Group, the Baptist Student Union, Episcopal Campus Ministry, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, and the Quaker Student Fellowship. The project also received the support of a Tucker Foundation Mini-Grant. The event is free and open to all.
