Time to Find Climate Solutions and Have Fun, too!
October 9: Cool Davis Climate Action Work Day. In solidarity with 10-10-10 worldwide climate actions, Davis Citizens are invited to sign up for local climate solution service projects emphasizing our environment, eco-justice, and climate mitigation. Projects include native habitat restoration, making Reusable Produce Bags, Urban Front Lawn to Vegetable Garden Transformation, clean-up of the Davis Community Gardens, helping with an Environmentally-Friendly Housing Cooperative Retrofit, creating songs in a Spirit of service to Earth, working on Davis High School garden beds, Fence Replacement and Grounds Clean-up at the UC Davis Raptor Center, and other projects as they are posted. October 10: Cool Davis Green Living Festival: People Powered Climate Solutions For Davis residents!!!
Art, Music, Food, Fun, and Prizes, too! Come for our free, family friendly celebration with a welcome program hosted by Mayor Don Saylor with Guest Mayors, Kevin Johnson of Sacramento , Artemio Pimentel of Woodland, Christopher Cabaldon of West Sacramento and Woody Friday of Winters for a Panel on Climate Solutions and Regional Cooperation and also, Eco-Hero Awards , theater (ACME with Mother Earth vs World’s People, Nature’s Theater’s The Search for King Carbon, etc.), Music (DHS Madrigals, Tree-O, a children's choir, etc.), dance (Mother Earth's Dance and Ecokinesis' Gyre) art (High School Poster Contest, self-portraits by children, hands-on art from recycled items, etc.), eco-living demonstrations (Carbon Cafeteria, solar cooking, Solar Panels from Talbott Solar, First Source Solar, etc.), bikes for year-round transportation, and other exhibits; delicious nibbles (from Ciocolat, Dos Coyotes, Cafe Bernardo, Food Coop, DeVoDa With Debra Chase, and others) and much more! Learn how low-carbon lifestyle choices lead to a healthy environment, personal well-being, and thriving community. The festival will emphasize community, fun, and information even as it motivates us to take personal action on behalf of ourselves and our planet. Come to be inspired. Come to be empowered. Come to the Veterans Memorial Center, October 10, 2010 from 2-5pm.

Event Host: Cool Davis Initiative: A Campaign to inspire and empower our community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while having fun. We are a coalition of non-profits, business people, local activists, students, educators, faith-based representatives, city employees and community members who consider action on climate change essential to the future of the Davis community.
