SPORTS THE WAY TO SAVE ENVIRONMENT.

Following the recent illegal logging of about 348 trees in Muthurwa estate to pave way for development by the Kenya Railways Staff Retirement Benefit Scheme,the residents are witnessing first hand the impact of illegal logging. Dust fumes and choking etc are the order of the day.
Through various age groups football tournament community will be able to engage and share on environmental awareness / planting and petitioning the government for those who illegally felled the trees to face the consequence of their actions.
The event will also be instrumental in pushing for the renovation and return to community their recreation facility (social hall) at new multi million Muthurwa Market.
This being a partnership between Baraza La Taifa,African Youth Initiative on Climate Change and Muthurwa residents we plan to sensitize over 3000 people from eastlands on the importance of safe and healthy environment.
Re-planting the trees will stregthen our resolve to petition the government through the new constitution its international obligation on planting 10% tree cover country wide.Amoung the guest that we anticipate are former Africa,commonwealth and Olympic boxing champions.
PROGRAMME FOR 10/10/10
We intend and hope to follow the following program on Sunday 10/10/10.
Sustainable sports under 14 Teams (The team shall be using a ball made from waste materials.)next the senior side: Country bus Fc V/s Black Cats Fc.
9.30Am-1.00Pm.(We shall watch the official opening of the game, then proceed to the clean-up as the teams engage each other for a trophy)
10.00Pm-1.45Pm (As players continue on the field, we shall be on the other side, carrying out a clean up.)
2.00 Pm-2.30 Pm.
Sports and clean up will have ended and we will therefore come together for the planting of Trees and a couple of group photos.)

2.45Pm onwards.Guest of Honours-Among the guest that we anticipate are former Africa,commonwealth and Olympic boxing champions. (Here, Ayicc-k and Baraza la Kitaifa will gather together for any observations made during the day and any other comments. After this, all Ayicc-k shall officially leave the place for Baraza La Taifa to carry on their usual meetings.
We hope to keep time for full realization of all the events.
No long sleeved shirts, we shall be getting to work.

How to Get Involved Planning the Event: On 30th-Sep-2010 we are attending a court case in High court Nairobi which the Muthurwa residents have instituted stopping the evictions and demolish after awrd we plan to march to the Kenya parliament,office of the President to petition for the arrest of those behind the illegal logging of trees,reclaiming our sporting facility and stopping the sale of Kenya Railways cooperation assets countrywide
