Kick Coal and Oil Out of LA Rally @ City Hall
Hi all,
Wow. Where do I start?? Every single person that I am sending this email to was absolutely essential to making yesterday's event a success. It's hard to say how many people we had out there, but I am confident it reached our goal of a thousand attendees at one point or another!! The samba was great, the visuals were great, the rally was amazing, the speakers rocked it, and the BANNER kicked major ass!! People walked away inspired, motivated, and eager to do more to kick coal and oil outta our city!
And, still wondering HOW big of an impact our event had, or how instrumental it was in moving LA towards a coal-free future? Check out the Sierra Club's press release today announcing City Council President Eric Garcetti's support of getting LA off of coal-our event was a catalyst of his announcement! We created a perfect moment and opportunity for this to happen, and it couldn't have happened without you. This is HUGE. http://sierraclub.org/coal/ca/pr/pr2010-10-11.aspx?sms_ss=facebook&at_xt=4cb3a8921310fed1%2C0
If you haven't checked it out already, please see Greenpeace's photo stream on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/greenpeaceusa09/?saved=1
The final result was: Nearly 1000 people attended, march and samba band led hundreds of people to the rally, 45 foot banner hung in front of City Hall with speakers on a stage in front of it, actors joined us to stand up for action on climate change, and City Council president came out in support of our campaign publicly.
