On Sunday, October 10th, “See the Light!” volunteers will be happily hand-delivering 3500 energy efficient light bulbs to pre-registered, mostly low-income New Yorkers across the city. This day of action will save our city nearly $173,000 in energy costs and eliminate approximately 686,000 pounds of Co2 emissions!

While doing our deliveries, we will be taking the opportunity to educate recipients about 350.org, about energy and carbon savings, about Energy Star products, and most importantly about CFL recycling. We also plan a follow-up pick up from recipient buildings to be delivered to recycling center.

Through generous donations from RelightNY, Con Edison, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer’s GoGreen program, a few local Home Depot stores, and private contributions, we have been given the tools to “Get to Work!”

We have also signed on as a RelightNY team and will proudly post over 25 buildings at the end of the day on 10/10/10 to their website. Innovative RelightNY was founded in 2007 by pioneering high school student Avery Hairston, and they have since changed 112,464 bulbs; eliminated 22,042,944 lbs of CO2 emissions; saved our city $5,555,721.60 in energy costs, and inspired the now RelightUS
