"Tell Ten Today,Tell Ten (million) Tomorrow"
Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 10:10 - 14:10
I write online about green events; including news, inofrmation and commentary. I had started a campaign in February called "Tell Ten Today" that was specific to stopping offshore oil and gas drilling in Florida (everywhere else would be great as well). Since then I have expanded to an action plan that has been retitled, "Tell Ten Today, Tell Ten (million) Tomorrow." With 309,176,882 people in the United States, about 31/2% (.0350) is ten million.
Currently, in Broward County there is an anti-idling policy for staff and a program "Green Thursdays" that encourages finding an alternate method of transportation that does not involve the use of a car; i.e. bus, bike, walk etc. I would like to capitalize on this and have teams positioned at the drawbridge in Fort Lauderdale on Davie Blvd. to distribute information to stopped cars at the drawbridges informing them of these two Broward County initiatives as well as asking them to not idle and to turn their vehicle off while waiting for the drawbridge. It will have a direct impact on reducing CO2 on October 10, 2010. If you are still interested in participating, please let me know.
How to Get Involved Planning the Event: Please email me or simply show up! Please be sure to read the background information included on http://browardnetonline.com/emerging-green/ or http://www.examiner.com/green-culture-in-fort-lauderdale/valerie-j-amor.
