"Your Future is on the Line" Clothesline Work Party
Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 12:00 - 18:00
Organizers in Williamstown are planning for work crews to help install twenty clotheslines to reduce emissions and save residents money on their electric bills. Work crews will fan out across Williamstown throughout the afternoon installing clotheslines at the homes of those who have signed up by October 3. The twenty slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
Technical assistance will also be available to those who plan to install their own clotheslines on that day, or who wish to learn more about alternatives to drying their clothes with a machine dryer. Organizers hope to keep track of clotheslines installed throughout the town and document them with photographs.
To sign up to have a work crew to help install your clothesline, or to join the work party as a worker, contact Wendy Penner at wendypenner@hotmail.com, 458-4708, or go to www.coolwilliamstown.org to fill out an intake survey. Those interested in technical assistance installing their own clothesline or other line drying questions should contact Elizabeth Smith (elizabeth@caretakerfarm.org)
The workday will end with a potluck dinner at First Congregational Church where people can celebrate the day’s successes; all are welcome.
This local event is co-sponsored by the Williamstown COOL Committee, First Congregational Church, and the Hoosic River Watershed Association. The 10/10/10
