350 to Mount Vinson, the Highest Peak in Antarctica!

In December, mountain guides Andy Tyson and Molly Loomis got the 350 message to the top of Mt. Vinson, Antarctica's highest peak. (16,050 ft.)
While much attention is being focused on the melting of the ice shelf, Scientists are just beginning to understand the effects of global warming on the continent's interior. Andy and Molly were happy to successfully execute this action however, they are less thrilled about the downside of these types of expeditions- the amount of carbon generated from flying from their home in Idaho, US to the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. They will be buying carbon off-sets to mitigate some of the damage. While not a perfect solution, it is at least something. Climbing Mt. Vinson with a 350 banner, designed by students at Jackson Hole High School, was an excellent way to spread this word about this important campaign to a number of people around the globe who would not have known about it otherwise.
