Clotheslines and Vampires

On October 10, people across the planet will pick up hammers, shovels, and caulking-guns and join the 10/10/10 Global Work Party, the world’s largest day of practical, common sense action to fight the climate crisis. In Concord, NH, they will be wearing their Halloween costumes.

Organizers in Concord expect over 350 people to join a rally in front of the State House. After the rally people will disperse to Concord neighborhoods to canvass for their favorite political candidates and to educate people about phantom and vampire loads. A "phantom load" is any appliance or electronic gizmo that uses energy even when turned off. Some people call them "vampire appliances" or "energy vampires." Windows of many downtown businesses are set to have displays that educate people about line drying and phantom or vampire loads.

This 10/10/10 Global Work Party is being coordinated by the international climate campaign 350.org, 10:10 Global and Project Laundry List. Photos and video from thousands of simultaneous events across the planet will also be available for the media at www.350.org/media.

What: People in costumes will rally in front of the NH State House, canvass the city, and then head to Miles Smith Farm for Farm Day, where a historical re-enactor will be hanging spooky, olde clothes on a clothesline in conjunction with a graveyard tour.
