In response to last night’s grand jury verdict in Ferguson, 350.org Executive Director May Boeve issued the following statement:
“Like it did to Amadou Diallo, Trayvon Martin, and so many others throughout our country’s history, the justice system failed Mike Brown last night. Our hearts are with the Brown family and communities across the U.S. who are reeling from grief and anger.
“Now, our task is to channel all our thoughts and emotions into a powerful force for meaningful change. The climate movement must stand in solidarity with the peaceful protesters in Ferguson marching for racial justice, because their fight is fundamentally linked with ours for a healthy and livable future for all. It’s past time to replace the broken system that continually devastates communities of color, and reform the bankrupt laws that put over-reactive self-defense above the dignity of life.”
