Transition Darebin Urban Orchards Planting Extravaganza
Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 10:00 - 17:00
Transition Darebin is a community organisation promoting local practical action on peak oil and climate change.
We want to get more food trees and edible plants in public open space.
Meet at The Old Apple Tree site, Cnr Beavers Road and Herbert St, Northcote (railway line) at 10am on 10/10/10.
We will have a working bee at the site, have lunch and then move on to another site nearby (details below).
If you are able, please bring: plate to share, hardy plants/trees (preferably edible), compost/mulch, timber to make garden beds, gloves, tools.....or just yourself.
Don't forget hat and sunscreen.
Below is the map to the spot we will be moving to later in the arvo (approx 2.30). It is the pedestrian railway crossing between Normanby Road and Thornbury station (about 10 min walk):
We have some hardy and EDIBLE DAY LILLIES for planting out this railway crossing and some CHALK for some STREET ART (tell your artist friends). Free Day Lilly recipe book for all those who come along!
