“Art changes people and people change the world” – John Butler

We are so excited to bring this to you. Across 6 continents, artists have created 6 stunning posters to kickstart the #RiseForClimate artwork project:

Behind each image is a powerful story, unique to the artist.

“I decided to make a drawing where people are celebrating the end of the Fossil Free age” ~ Daniela Paes Leão, the Netherlands

“The artwork symbolizes our hope to live in harmony with our lands and oceans.” ~ Teleise Neemia Lesa, Samoa/New Zealand

Can you help spread the word? Check out the posters and share them on Facebook, Twitter, or explore and share the full artivism toolkit.

As we build up to 8 September, let’s make it beautiful. Let’s use all the tools that we have — our voices, our bodies, and the art that we make together — to inspire people everywhere to join this movement, and to demand our local leaders commit to building a Fossil Free world.

The #RiseForClimate art project is now open for your own submissions, and we hope these initial 6 images will ripple out into thousands of art projects on kitchen tables and in meeting places around the world. You can download the posters in multiple formats, read the inspirational artivist toolkit, and pick up a paintbrush or a sponge and a stencil — and also submit your own!

So whether you’re going along to a Rise for Climate event on 8 September or thinking about joining or organizing one, or simply helping to spread the word — these posters and the accompanying artivism toolkit are for you.

And if there’s no Rise event happening yet near you, there’s still plenty of time to organize one. Sign up as a Rise for Climate host today, and we’ll be in touch with all the information you need.
