It’s what the world needs from us.** 2023 was the hottest year in 174 years of climate record-keeping. Only to see that number shattered again in 2024. Climate impacts have hit hard, from Brazil to Japan and Chad, devastating lives and livelihoods. The world can feel like a harsh place right now. And yet, this is exactly the moment to double down in our commitment to a fair, safe, and livable planet for all. **Bold action for a world where people, not polluters, are in control.** 350.org is not just fighting fossil fuels — we’re showing the world what real climate leadership looks like. With innovative tactics and growing grassroots power, 350 is creating solutions to the climate crisis that also produce affordable energy, jobs, and prosperity for people. And people are taking notice: in 2024 alone, 350 was called a “model for social change” in the book “Practical Radicals: Seven Strategies to Change the World” and two of our campaigns were listed among the Top 10 Most Influential Environmental Campaigns by One Green Planet. **Increasingly, though, our movement is under threat.** As well as the clampdown on protest and free speech that threatens our movement, governments in many countries are privileging big companies, and the billionaires who own them. Together they are rolling back environmental protections, taking away our democratic rights, and fueling climate misinformation which threatens to reverse our collective progress to limit global heating or deal with its consequences. **I am so proud that 350 stands alongside courageous climate defenders, supporting them wherever they need.** A powerful example of this is our campaign to free Hoàng Thi Minh Hồng, a climate leader from Vietnam who was unjustly arrested in May 2023. After more than a year of tireless advocacy, mobilizing support from 55 countries, we were thrilled to see her released on September 21st, 2024. **The stories in this report show how 350 is creating a different future, by putting an end to fossil fuel projects and fighting back with positive solutions, creativity and determination.** A few highlights from this report include: At COP28 in Dubai, 350.org and our allies pushed world leaders to commit to tripling renewable energy and doubling energy efficiency by 2030 — a critical step in phasing out fossil fuels. In Türkiye, following our report on fossil fuel financing, Şekerbank became the latest of 11 banks to promise an end to new coal funding. Following years of pressure, Crédit Agricole, the second largest bank in France, stopped funding fossil fuels. In Colombia, after years of work alongside frontline communities, the government passed a historic “Energy Communities” decree — the first of its kind in Latin America — giving local groups the power to create and control their own renewable energy systems. It means creating good jobs, and ending the pollution that sickens people and blights communities. It means everyone gets access to affordable, reliable electricity – including low-income families, women, Indigenous groups and people of color. In FY24, we achieved a remarkable commitment: just weeks after we raised a global call to Power Up climate solutions, we heard countries commit to tripling clean energy and doubling energy efficiency by 2030, to speed up the transition away from fossil fuels and avoid the worst impacts from the climate crisis. By switching to renewables, communities gain power – in both senses of the word. With renewable energy that can be produced and controlled at the local level, and by reducing our dependence on precarious global supply chains and profit-driven corporations. In this report, we share stories from our teams and some of our 550+ local groups around the world, who are making this vision a reality. This is my first year leading 350, and as much as I am encouraged and inspired by the groundswell we’re building for clean energy, I’m also deeply concerned by the increasingly fierce fight-back from fossil fuel interests and their political allies. Big banks and billionaire investors are abandoning their climate promises and pouring money into expanding fossil fuel production. As this report goes to press, bills criminalizing climate protest are pending or have been enacted in dozens of countries. In the United States alone, more than 50 such repressive laws have been introduced in the first four months of 2025. These aggressive tactics are pushback from a system that sees we’re winning. Thanks to the steadfast backing of our donors, volunteers, and campaign supporters, we are building a clean energy revolution. But the fossil fuels industry is desperate to stop it, and they are putting our movement in grave peril. Now more than ever, we need your support. We’re building a movement that fights for a fairer future for all. We believe in the collective power of ordinary people taking action: we campaign and organize, locally and globally, to create a world powered by just and accessible renewable energy that will move us away from fossil fuels, for good. And we are doing this with the urgency the climate crisis demands of us. **What’s in a name?** Our name, 350, refers to an important number – the safe limit of 350 parts per million (ppm) of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere to avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis. By the time this report was finalized, in May 2025, we were already at 431 ppm. 350 is a reminder of the urgent need to prevent this number from increasing further, and commit to actions that will return us to the safe limit, for the sake of our collective future.
