This picture from the Connecticut Shore in Long Island is worth looking at closely

A line of people stands on a beach between markers labeled 1912 and 2012, illustrating coastal erosion at Griswold Point, Old Lyme CT. The image demonstrates the impact of erosion and global warming on the shoreline over 100 years.

Heres how Murray Wilmerding tells the story: Griswold Point was settled 1638. Generations have lived here and played onthe beach. As a child my grandmother and her siblings stood by the rock. As achild my mother taught me to swim to it. My children and I dive off it at hightide. You can see clearly see the effects of rising water and erosion. Friday (5/4/2012), many locals who have watched this transpire gathered to join in supporting the global awareness for better climate solutions and spread the word.
