What’s a Just Transition Act?

In the 2019 election, Trudeau promised to introduce a Just Transition Act, “ensuring that workers have access to the training and support they need to succeed in the new clean economy.” But, he’s barely mentioned it since. The fossil fuel era is ending and workers across Canada are losing their jobs. We can’t keep waiting for help with the transition. We need action now. It’s time for Trudeau to keep his promise to workers and legislate the Just Transition Act. Click here to add your name to the petition calling on Trudeau to deliver a Just Transition Act.

Is this a real job application site?

No, unfortunately, Prime Minister Trudeau hasn’t followed through yet on his promise to deliver a million green jobs and legislate a Just Transition Act that supports workers with a transition away from fossil fuels. By faxing him our “job applications”, we’re taking action in a cheeky and creative way to remind him that workers across the country are ready for all the green jobs he promised us.

What’s “faxing” and why are we doing it?

Before e-mail became popularized, faxing was a common form of communication that involved the telephonic transmission of scanned printed material to a telephone number connected to a fax (facsimile) machine. Believe it or not, government offices still use this archaic form of communication. Turns out their climate and energy policies aren’t the only things that are stuck in the past! We’re faxing Trudeau so we can physically fill his office with “applications” from people across the country who are ready for green jobs. The PM has been ignoring our daily email updates about all the people who have signed the petition calling on him to deliver the Just Transition Act — so we’re hoping this slightly more disruptive action will get his attention.
