Ordinary Canadians are feeling the crunch, as the price of gas continues to soar. Oil companies are raking in record profits while the rest of us are struggling to heat our homes and cover our transportation costs.
As we pay the price of fossil fuel volatility and anticipate another summer of record-breaking climate impacts, the case for transitioning away from fossil fuels and towards renewables has never been clearer. That’s why we’re demanding immediate action to phase out fossil fuels and accelerate a renewable energy transition with a People’s Power Grid.
Transitioning away from fossil fuels means electrifying our future. It means powering our everyday needs with affordable renewable energy, expanding rapid electric transportation systems, and ensuring everyone has access to cheap, life-saving heat pumps.
The only way to unlock that future is with a People’s Power Grid.
In a couple of weeks, we are headed to Ottawa with a coalition of climate organizations, labour movement representatives, and Indigenous advocacy groups on Parliament Hill. Together, we’re demanding major federal investments to build an east-west grid powered by renewable energy.
While in Ottawa, the 350 Canada team will deliver tens of thousands of signatures to demonstrate massive public support behind our vision for a People’s Power Grid. We’d love to include your signature.
Between gutting climate regulations and fast-tracking new LNG projects, the federal government has been advancing the interests of the fossil fuel sector – instead of protecting the people and places that we love.
We must speak up now to ensure that Canada gets the infrastructure projects that will actually ensure a safe and affordable future for our families.
