Carney\u2019s honeymoon might be in trouble and it\u2019s all thanks to people like you.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Together, we achieved our goal of widening the divisions in the Liberal caucus over Carney\u2019s climate rollbacks.<\/p>\n

To recap quickly, a couple of weeks ago, the PM quietly released a proposal for major legislative changes that would fast-track destruction by suspending environmental protections and watering down the regulations that protect Canadians.1<\/sup><\/p>\n

In response, thousands of us spoke up, flooding the inboxes and phone lines of MPs across the country and calling on them to oppose this proposal. And guess what? We pushed them to take action. Last night, the Liberal climate caucus held an emergency meeting to address many MPs\u2019 growing concerns that Canada is “backsliding on environmental commitments.”2<\/sup><\/p>\n

The internal discord shows that we\u2019re closer than ever to getting this destructive proposal scrapped\u00a0before it even becomes draft legislation. But we have a short window to seal the deal.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s about time our voices were finally heard. We\u2019ve been speaking up against Big Oil\u2019s mass deregulation wish list for a year now, but they kept on winning every battle. Their first major win was Bill C-5 and the creation of the Major Projects Office (headed by the former CEO of Trans Mountain). Their next win was Bill C-15, which awarded Carney\u2019s government Henry VIII style powers to let corporations bypass laws at cabinet ministers\u2019 discretion.<\/p>\n

But the latest plan to fast-track destruction takes it even further. Under the proposed regulatory changes, the new tar sands pipeline Carney is now championing with Danielle Smith wouldn’t even have to go through an environmental impact assessment!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many of you have been shocked and angered by the brazenness of this attack. And thanks to your quick action, this could be a breaking point for Carney\u2019s caucus too. That would finally be one point on the board for people and the planet. So let\u2019s make sure we stop Big Oil from winning this one too.<\/p>\n
