Our allies in Canada have urged us to spread the word about an important fossil fuel resistance effort underway in the town of Rexton, in New Brunswick, happening now. New Brunswick is one of the largest geographic areas under consideration for expanded fracking. For more information about Shale Gas drilling in New Brunswick, click here.
A group First Nations protestors and their allies gathered in the region to confront expanded shale-gas drilling, beginning on Sept 30, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Company.
Please help spread the word about this as a way to support our allies. Here is a livestream to follow updates.
- [Global Frackdown](https://350.org/global-frackdown/) — We are nearly a week into Reclaim Power — a global month of action on energy. The next big day to come up is this year's Global Frackdown, a day when communities around the world are uniting to demand a shift to clean, renewable energy and debunk the myth of shale gas as bridge fuel.
Click here to find events planned near you.
To help get the word out in the coming days, there is a whole set of social media resources to help make it easy to spread the word online here: https://www.globalfrackdown.org/social-media
And here's a clip of 350.org co-founder Bill McKibben joining in the call to action for this Saturday:
- [This is how we Draw the Line on Keystone XL](https://350.org/how-we-draw-line-keystone-xl/) — After years of organizing, years of building strength in the movement and building resistance to the Keystone Pipeline- today was really something to see. Thousands of people in hundreds of cities drawing one line to protect our future. But today was also more than fighting the pipeline -- it was also about showing the strength and power, and how people can overcome the corruption of the fossil fuel industry.

- [I think we're nearing the end-game on Keystone XL](https://350.org/i-think-were-nearing-end-game-keystone-xl/) — It feels to me like we’re getting close to the endgame on Keystone XL.
Last week the Canadian government sent a letter to President Obama offering vague promises of reducing carbon emissions from the tar sands in return for the right to build the pipeline. Scientists and energy analysts quickly pointed out that this was nonsense -- it’s as if you were to begin your diet with two dozen jelly doughnuts, or plan to quit smoking by buying another carton or two of cigarettes.
I think this means the Canadians are getting a little desperate. They know the tide has turned against this pipeline in the U.S.
- [300 miles in 36 hours -- to fight climate change and Keystone XL](https://350.org/300-miles-36-hours-fight-climate-change-and-keystone-xl/) — This is a letter written by our friend Charles Scott, who is cycling from NYC to Wahington DC right now. Thanks, Charles! You're amazing. Join us and take a stand against the Keystone XL pipeline tomorrow: 350.org/KXL Dear Friends, Starting around midnight on Friday, November 16, I will attempt to cycle 300 miles solo in about 36 hours from New York City to Washington, D.C. I have never attempted to ride a bicycle so far in such a short period of time and do not know if I’ll be able to manage it. I’m attempting this ride to support 350.org, an environmental group hosting Do the Math events around the country that highlight the connection between climate change and the increased intensity of recent extreme weather events like Superstorm Sandy. I’ll attend the Do the Math event in New York City on Friday evening, November 16. Immediately after, I’ll begin riding through the night from NYC to DC in order to participate in a 350.org rally on Sunday, November 18 to encourage the U.S. Government to deny the permit request for the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. For background, see Bill McKibben’s Rolling Stone article. If I leave NYC at midnight, I’ll have about 36 hours to make it to the DC event. Please wish me luck and share this note with others, if you support what I’m doing. Finally, although Sandy is long past, many people are still in need. If you would like to help, Deposit a Gift has partnered with the New York Foundling to provide support specifically for children affected by the storm and is donating an extra 4% for every contribution: https://foundlingsandyrelief.mydagsite.com. Deposit a Gift is an excellent fund raising resource based in NYC and has sponsored my previous charity rides – I’d recommend them for any kind of fundraising/crowd funding need: https://depositagift.com/signup-fundraising. Thanks, Charles
