Last June at Georgetown University in Washington DC, President Obama, said “I refuse to condemn your generation and future generations to a planet that’s beyond fixing. “

On March 2, hundreds of young people from around the country will converge in DC to demand that President Obama follows through on that promises he’s made to our generation. Together we will march to the White House to send the strongest possible message that he needs to be a climate champion, not a pipeline president, and stop Keystone XL.

The action, called XL Dissent, is entirely youth and student led, and marks an important escalation in the fight to stop Keystone XL and the tar sands. We are going to remind President Obama of his promise to our generation, demanding he reject the pipeline and protect us from a future defined by climate chaos.

Our generation has been at the forefront of the movement to demand climate justice. Many students taking part in this action work on fossil fuel divestment campaigns at their schools across the country. The day before the action, we will come together to swap skills and hear from youth leaders who are running fossil fuel divestment campaigns and are taking the fight against dirty energy off-campus. Together, we’ll lay the foundation for a wave of bold, youth-powered action.

Will you join us for a Divestment Meet-up in Washington D.C. on March 1st?
