DRAW THE LINE

Host an event >

This September, thousands will take to the streets to draw the line and demand real climate action.

Our future is at stake. Floods, droughts, storms, and heatwaves are intensifying. Food and energy costs are rising while a handful of billionaires profit and prop up the industries that pollute our lands, air and waters. This world is ours to make, and we know what needs to be done to solve the crisis we’re in.

Let’s draw the line — for people and for the planet.

Draw the Line is a global week of events, leading up to a weekend of actions on September 19-21, 2025. Ordinary people across the world will come together in a massive show of strength, resistance and celebration to demand real, decisive and urgent action from world leaders.

We want a better world for ourselves, our children and our communities. A world with clean, affordable energy for everyone. A world where we can speak up for our rights, where people and nature are safe, and where big polluters help pay to fix the climate crisis.

Our future belongs to us, not to polluters and billionaires. This is our line to draw.

We demand:

Real climate action:

  • Stop fossil fuels: No more building new coal, oil and gas projects. Gradually stop using the ones that are already active.
  • Increase clean energy: Triple the amount of renewable energy (like wind and solar) by 2030. Make sure it’s fair and respects human rights and nature.

Fair money:

  • Tax the billionaires and polluters: Create national and global wealth taxes. Make fossil fuel companies and the super-rich pay for the damage they’ve caused.
  • Fund the just transition: Rich countries have polluted and profited the most for centuries. The money needed for climate action isn’t charity — it’s justice. Give grants (not loans) to Global South countries to build clean, affordable energy systems.
  • Cancel unfair debt: People’s wellbeing should come first. Poor countries shouldn’t have to use their money to pay for high interest when it could go to clean jobs, schools, housing, and healthcare.

People at the center:

  • Protect our voices: People everywhere should be free to speak out, protest, and organize with safety.
  • Respect our leadership: Indigenous peoples – the true guardians of our planet –  and those most impacted by climate change must have real power in climate talks.
  • Kick polluters out: Fossil fuel companies and their lobbyists shouldn’t have more influence than the people. Leaders should take direction from communities, not corporations.

In September, world leaders will meet at the UN General Assembly in New York. Six weeks later, they’ll meet again in Brazil for the UN climate summit (COP30). The world needs real action for justice, now – this is our moment to speak up and push them to do more!

What we do now will decide our future. The next five or ten years will define if we manage to keep global heating to a safe level or cross a point of no return – putting not only our planet, but us all in distress.

But instead of taking action, many governments are going backwards. They’re taking away people’s rights, breaking climate promises, and letting big fossil fuel companies keep polluting. Billionaires keep getting richer, while we are stuck paying higher prices for food, rent, and energy and facing the worst of climate impacts.

We need 2025 to be a turning point – for clean energy, peace, and fairness. Let’s make sure our voices are heard!

There will be a variety of actions using the concept of drawing a line against [something bad] and/or for [something good]. Some examples:

  • Human line
  • Drawing a chalk or paint line on the streets
  • Holding long banners or cards to form a line together, physically or virtually

These are just some ideas. You’re welcome to use your creativity and imagination! We will soon release a toolkit with more action ideas too.

Mass petitions, banner actions, marches, sit-ins, walkouts and community parties are also welcome.

No worries! We will soon publish a map with all registered events, where you’ll be able to find the action closest to you. Sign up here to get updates directly in your inbox!

Draw the Line is organized by 350.org in collaboration with many other international, regional, and local partners. If you are a group wishing to help promote this effort, please send us your contact details.
