While the Amazon produces close to one third of Brazil’s electricity, more than a million Amazonians don’t have access to energy.
Most of these people are directly impacted by the climate emergency and have been facing devastating droughts and fires, impacting their food security and health.
Meanwhile, the oil and gas industry has been harming traditional communities across the Amazon and Brazil is poised to become the world’s fourth-largest oil and gas producer.
In the world’s largest rainforest, the renewable energy revolution is about more than just installing solar panels. It’s about human rights, inclusion, and systemic change to empower communities to make their own energy choices.
Energy of the People – is a campaign to transform energy policy and ensure everyone has full access to renewable, democratic, and equitable energy!
It's time to remind the Brazilian Government, host of G20 and COP30 that we need real climate leadership and ambitious goals. We also need world leaders from rich countries to act with the urgency needed to tackle the climate crisis and fund climate action that puts people over profits.
Join Energy of the People and help amplify communities voices from around the world - who want a brighter future free from fossil fuels and call on rich nations to commit to fair finance to fund the renewable revolution!

Energy of the People is a campaign promoted by 350 Brazil, led by Indigenous people and Traditional communities from the Brazilian Amazon, in collaboration with many local partners. You can check the campaign website (in Brazilian Portuguese)
We want to lift up peoples voices, many of whom are the most vulnerable to climate change and increase pressure for a decolonial and fair renewable energy transition.
Our work is based on four main demands:
Access to safe and clean renewable energy for all Indigenous people and Traditional communities, listening and respecting autonomy over their lands.
Investment in research and public education to advance renewable energy technology and training for green jobs
Support local initiatives that protect the forest and bioeconomy – providing reliable energy and securing a locally led process
Create a fossil free Amazon and move to community led renewable energy
We are working hard to pressure President Lula and local governments in Brazil to create energy policies that benefit people over profits. Together we can make renewable energy for all a reality. Can you help us by amplifying our voices and calling on world leaders from rich countries to stop pouring money into fossil fuels and instead invest in the just renewable energy transition.
