Chai is one of the most consumed beverage in India. But a prolonged dry spell and extreme heat has affected tea plantations in Assam and Bengal with production dropping by 60% when compared to the same period in 2011. If not already, we should all be getting ready to drink some really expensive tea this year.

Global Warming has resulted in an average rise of 0.9 degree celsius on the planet’s surface and greater rises in temperatures across the Indian subcontinent. This inevitably leads to heat waves and dry spells across the country as is currently being felt in Assam and Bengal.
