On April 19, the California State Senate will be deciding whether to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty (FFNPT). The fossil fuel industry is responsible for our rapidly changing climate and rising sea levels. This treaty is the first step in addressing the climate crisis with the scale and urgency it demands, based around three principles:

• Ending Expansion – No new fossil fuel exploration or production
• Fair Phase Out – An equitably managed reduction of existing fossil fuel production
• Just Transition – Supporting justly sourced implemented renewable energy transition
