That was not public relief.  We need a central bank that supports Black, Indigenous, and communities of color fighting on the frontlines of COVID-19, racial and economic injustice, and climate destruction. Instead, the Federal Reserve is neglecting to regulate the banks financing oil, gas, and coal expansion projects, actively funding the climate crisis. Join our fight in demanding that the Federal Reserve take immediate action to fight the climate crisis.

Germany

• Kein Geld Für Klimaverbrecher –  The European Central Bank is releasing billions of euros in COVID-19 financial aid and sending them to coal, oil and gas companies such as Shell and Total. These funds are actually intended to help the people and the economy to recover from the COVID-19 crisis. Instead, they support companies that pollute the environment and violate human rights around the world. Take action now to prevent this from happening again.

France

• Total Knew – Oil giant Total has known that burning fossil fuels was causing climate change since the 1970s. They lied about it. They funded climate doubt and denial, and made profit while stealing our time and our future. It’s time to cut off their funding.

The Netherlands

• ING Fossielvrij – The Netherlands’ largest bank pumps billions of euros into fossil fuels. Help us raise the pressure to make ING fossil free.

Brazil

• Say no to oil and gas in the Amazon – The Brazilian government is auctioning the Amazon to the fossil fuels industry, putting indigenous and traditional communities at risk and causing irreversible damage to biodiversity. Sign and share the petition to help protect the Amazon.
• Enough of fossil finance – financial institutions have been profiting with the destruction of our planet and feeding climate chaos. From 2016 to 2020, the amount of money banks worldwide invested on fossil fuels was more than double the Brazilian GDP. This needs to stop. Demand that Brazilian banks earmark their investments NOW for a just transition everywhere.

Nigeria

• Coal Free Nigeria – A campaign calling on the Nigerian government to stop the issuance of coal mining licenses. The Federal Government of Nigeria as a signatory to the Paris Agreement ,has an obligation to reduce its carbon emission and this includes among several other actions the outright ban on coal mining in Nigeria.

Democratic Republic of Congo

• Fossil-Free Virunga campaign – A campaign to say no to oil exploration in one of the world’s most biodiverse protected areas, home to over one thousand species including the world’s endangered mountain gorillas – the Virunga National Park.

South Africa

• Green New Eskom – The campaign for a Green New Eskom is being led by the Climate Justice Coalition, a coalition of South African civil society, grassroots, trade union, and community-based organisations, calling for a rapid and just transition to a more socially owned, renewable energy powered economy, providing clean, safe, and affordable energy for all, with no worker and community left behind in the transition.
• Public Finance for Climate – The Public Finance campaign aims to lobby the Public Development Finance Institution (DFI), The Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) to develop and implement a fossil fuel exclusion policy in order to shift financial flows to effective climate action. The campaign calls for a policy as a mechanism that collates the intersectional aims of decarbonisation with goals of social inclusivity and environmental sustainability, a people centred approach to decarbonisation.”

Bangladesh

• Green New Deal in Bangladesh – Bangladesh must keep coal and gas out of its energy transition plans and cancel all coal plant projects and use the land to kickstart new solar energy projects. Join the movement now.
• JICA: Don’t Fund Matarbari Coal Plant in Bangladesh – The Japanese Government must immediately stop the Japan International Cooperation Agency from investing in the 1320MW Matarbari Phase 2 coal plant in Bangladesh. • 3 Japanese Megabanks – End Fossil Finance – Three of Japan’s largest “Megabanks” have been the driving force behind the Japanese economy. However, these banks are the world’s top three lenders to the coal industry, making them some of the largest global financiers of fossil fuels. • Let’s Divest Campaign – 350 Japan is campaigning to foster Japanese citizens to divest from fossil-fuel banks and move their personal savings to fossil-free financial institutions through the Let’s Divest Campaign.
