Well, file this under “we all saw that coming.”  But at least now it’s official.

The New York Times published an article with this stark opening line: “Antarctica is warming.”

Well I’ll be.

But here’s the part that intrigued me:

“We now see warming is taking place on all seven of the earth’s continents in accord with what models predict as a response to greenhouse gases,” said Eric J. Steig, a professor of earth and space sciences at the University of Washington in Seattle, who is the lead author of a paper to be published Thursday in the journal Nature.”

The verdict is in–all seven continents.  The warming is now officially and truly global, in the most literal sense of the word. It stands to reason a global movement to stop it is what’s necessary.

Time to figure out who we know in Antarctica…if there’s grassroots action for 350 there, there can be grassroots action anywhere. Anybody have connections to folks working at the McMurdo Station? Send ’em my way: [email protected]
