The [Out of Pocket report](https://350.org/out-of-pocket-report/) shows how fossil fuels are driving up the cost of living – through higher bills, public spending, and climate damage. Sharing this report directly with decision-makers is a simple but powerful way to make sure they see the evidence, show that people are paying attention, and call for real action.

##### Step 1: Choose your target

Think about who has influence over energy, finance, or public spending where you live. This could be:

- Your Member of Parliament or local representative
- A government minister (energy, finance, environment)
- A mayor or local official

Choose someone who has the power to act, or who should be held accountable.

##### Step 2: Deliver the report

You can do this in two simple ways:

**Option A: Email**

- [Download the report](http://350.org/out-of-pocket-report/download.pdf)
- Email it to your chosen decision-maker (_most government officials’ email addresses are just a Google-search away!_)
- Include a short message explaining why you’re sharing it

Keep it simple and clear. The goal is to make sure they receive it and understand why it matters.

**Option B: In person (if possible)**

- Print a copy of the report (or key pages)
- Deliver it to their office
- If you can, briefly explain why you’re there

You can do this alone or with others. Delivering it in person can make the message more visible and harder to ignore. ##### Step 3: Be clear about your message

When you share the report, keep your message focused:

- People are already paying several times over for fossil fuels
- This is not inevitable; it’s the result of political decisions
- Decision-makers must act to reduce costs and move away from fossil fuels

You don’t need to explain everything in the report. Just connect it to real-life impacts and why action is needed.

##### Step 4: Keep it respectful and simple

- Be clear and direct
- Keep your message short
- Stay respectful, even if you are frustrated

The goal is to be heard and taken seriously.

##### Step 5: Share and encourage others

If you’re comfortable, you can:

- Share what you did with others
- Encourage friends or your community to do the same

Seeing others take action can help build momentum.

##### Reminder

This is not about being perfect. It’s about making sure the report reaches the people who need to see it, and showing that people expect real action. Good luck!
