My Hope for My Islands
The Pacific Climate Warriors are taking the Pacific Power Up Declaration to COP28 to keep our hopes for our islands alive
In the face of the devastating climate crisis and fossil-fuelled greed, hope has been our resistance. This month, the Pacific Climate Warriors will carry these hopes to COP28 in the Pacific Power Up Declaration and demand that leaders commit to building a world where Pacific people and frontline communities everywhere are safe from the climate crisis.

Through this declaration, we're asking leaders for bolder, urgent actions:
Join us in urging leaders worldwide to take serious steps for a safe, clean, and sustainable world where our islands can thrive.
Is to heal, to re-generate, to love, to be safe, and have peace.
That at all levels, community, government, civil society, those in power and the marginalized all share the same understanding and resolve in addressing the climate crisis.
That our islands will still be here in 100 years. That we are independent and sovereign states, places we will forever call home.
That my home will see another tomorrow, to know my home is there when one day I have finished uni when our children have finished school
That the bones of our ancestors will rest, untouched by the encroaching sea, and the next generation of youth will not have to move our graves or watch them be washed away.
That the backs of our families are not gradually bent and broken from rebuilding seawalls
That our mothers live without fear of the tides, holding our children in a safe embrace rooted in the knowledge that she will hold generations more of her children and her childrens children
That we can continue to create new generations of dreamers, of weavers, of builders and leaders who remember where we’ve come from.
That we embrace each other despite race, age, colour and creed, working together to protect our homes and leave no one behind
That Indigenous people everywhere are guaranteed the resources they need to build their own climate solutions. That we organize and uplift marginalized communities everywhere, knowing our liberation is tied
That we centre the voices of grassroots communities who experience the realities of climate-induced impacts and violence, including those who are most impacted and most vulnerable.
Is that we move beyond our addiction to fossil fuels and embrace living in balance with the world and with each other
And that we live and experience a just and equitable transition to renewable energy and be informed of a fight towards a climate consequence-free pacific.
As Pacific Climate Warriors, we will honour the way of our ancestors by being able to practice our traditional and indigenous ways of being, knowing and doing. To achieve this and we will do that by affirming our commitment to the Pacific Climate Warriors Power Up Declaration
