350.org on Spicer’s “Alternative Facts” on KXL and DAPL

Washington, DC — In response to a question about Donald Trump’s anticipated executive orders, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said that the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines are “areas where we can increase jobs and increase economic growth,” and said the projects have been a “big priority” for the president. In response, 350.org Executive Director May Boeve issued the following statement:

“Talk about alternative facts. Neither Keystone XL or Dakota Access are solutions for our economy — they are threats to the livable future that we’ve fought so hard to preserve. The path to increasing jobs in this country is in the just transition to a renewable energy economy, not in dirty fossil fuels that are worsening the climate crisis every day. Trump is delusional if thinks he’ll move these projects forward without a fight.”
