After hearing about the Canadian government’s plan to phase out coal power, Aurore Fauret, Tar Sands Campaigner with 350.org, issued this response:
“I applaud the government’s announcement to phase out coal power across Canada today, but the good it will do on climate will be undone if the Prime Minister approves the Kinder Morgan pipeline. Minister Mckenna said it herself, the coal phase out will have the same impact as taking 1.3 million cars off Canada’s roads, but approving Kinder Morgan would be like adding more than 30 million cars to those same roads.”
