350 Responds to White House Solar Plan
In response to an announcement by the Obama administration broadening accessibility of solar energy for middle and low-income households, 350.org Executive Director May Boeve issued the following statement:
“The roots of income inequality are deeply tangled with those behind the climate crisis — which is why today’s announcement is such a good step in the right direction. Every solar panel that goes up on a low-income rooftop can help lower the price of electricity, create local jobs, and combat climate change. It’s a win, win, win; but in order to be successful, we need this to be just the beginning, because getting off fossil fuels will require an effort far greater and faster than the President is proposing. We need our government to go from stepping in the right direction to sprinting there.”
