350.org Endorses Youth Zero Hour March

Youth climate leadership calls on local and state electeds to step up ahead of September’s Rise for Climate, Jobs and Justice mobilizations around the Global Climate Action Summit

Washington, DC — Today, global grassroots climate organization 350.org announced its endorsement of the youth-led Zero Hour march, art build, and lobby day happening the weekend of July 21, 2018 in Washington, DC and through sister marches around the world. This is the largest youth of color organized climate march in U.S. history, demanding immediate, common sense climate policies in the lead-up to September’s Rise for Climate, Jobs and Justice Mobilizations.

On the endorsement, May Boeve, 350.org Executive Director issued the following statement:

“350.org is honored to announce our endorsement of the youth-led Zero Hour movement. Young people are at the forefront of both climate destruction, and of building the solutions for a world free from fossil fuels with 100% renewables for all. That’s why we’re coming together, across generations, ahead of the Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice mobilizations to raise the bar on real climate leadership. As the Trump administration disregards the dignity and human rights of young people and their families, we have a responsibility to stand with youth who are fighting to protect our collective future and prevent the worst impacts of climate change.”

Jamie Margolin, 16-year-old Founder and Organizer of Zero Hour offered:

“We are excited that a global organization like 350.org is endorsing Zero Hour. As a youth-led movement centering diverse young people around climate and environmental justice, we fight alongside 350.org for a fossil free world that puts young people and those most affected by climate change first. From gun control to racial justice and immigration, we as young people are stepping up where federal officials are epically failing, and calling on them to follow our lead. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. Join the youth fighting for our futures ”
