Washington D.C. — Today, the White House announced a plan to expand wind farms along the East Coast and kickstart the United States’ offshore wind industry, in an effort to increase clean energy production and combat climate change.
In response, 350.org US Communications Director Thanu Yakupitiyage made the following statement:
“This is the type of climate action we need from the Biden administration: major investment in renewable energy that creates thousands of good-paying union jobs. In this moment of compounding health, economic, racial, and climate crises, it’s beyond time to get our country off fossil fuels and on track towards a renewable future that centers the working class and communities of color.”
Today is also the start to the murder trail of Derek Chauvin. 350.org stands in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives and demands justice for George Floyd.
