Toronto, ON – In response to the recently released IPCC report, 350.org’s Canada Campaign Director Amara Possian issued this statement:
“This IPCC report is a clarion call to Canada that our current climate plan is nowhere near enough. This “code red for humanity” as UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called it, means it’s past time for Justin Trudeau to step up and do what it takes to meet the climate emergency.
That means a moratorium on fossil fuel expansion, stopping construction on projects like Trans Mountain and immediately getting to work on a just transition that leaves no one behind. With an election around the corner and climate fueled wildfires still raging across this country, the real question is if our politicians are listening and if any of them will step up and be the climate champions that we need.”
