FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
24 JUNE 2025
Media Advisory: Civil Society Action and Photo Opportunity at Bonn Negotiations
Renewables In.
Fossils Out.
Indigenous Leadership and Traditional Communities First
What: Banner action. With 3 days of negotiations left at Bonn, we need justice, not jargon!
Activists from different regions and organizations will take the floor for brief interventions calling for:
- Triple renewable energy capacity in a fair and equitable way
- Phase out fossil fuels for a just transition now
- Indigenous and traditional leadership at COP30
When: Tuesday 24th June, 1pm – 1.30pm
Where: In front of Plenary New York
Why Now: With only days remaining at the June Climate Talks, the pressure is on COP30 leaders to commit to a real, ambitious implementation agenda. Activists are calling out delay tactics and demanding action that centers communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis — especially Indigenous peoples and traditional communities whose rights and leadership are too often sidelined in negotiations.
Speakers:
-
- Abel Rodrigues, Member of Fridays For Future Brazil
- Naira Wayand de Almeira, Climate Justice & Amazon Coordinator at Oxfam Brazil
- Chief Ninawá Inu Huni Kui
- Francisco Kelvim, Coordinator for the Movement of People Affected by Dams and representative of the People’s Summit
